Visitor Resources

Visitor Resources

We know how unsettling it can be to have a loved one in the hospital. That’s why we strive to treat visitors with the same kind of care and attention to detail we afford our guests, helping them feel welcome and comfortable as they lend support to loved ones.

Visiting Hours

We believe people heal best when surrounded by loved ones. So we try to include and accommodate visitors as much as possible. At our 106th and North Meridian location there are no restrictions to visiting hours for friends and family. Each guest suite is furnished with a pullout sofa bed that sleeps one person comfortably and a recliner for visitors who wish to stay with a guest overnight. (One overnight guest per room, please.) At our 86th Street location, visiting hours for the PCCU (Progressive Cardiac Care Unit) are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with no age restriction. The visiting hours in the CVTU (Cardiovascular Thoracic Transplant Unit) are 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. with an age restriction of 14. We also have breaks between our visiting hours for our team to complete bedside reporting to ensure the best care for our patients.

Dining and Waiting Areas

Our inviting waiting areas at 106th Street and North Meridian are furnished with the amenities you need to be comfortable while visiting — including two flat-screen televisions in the main waiting area and another in the cafe.

The café at 106th Street and North Meridian offers a wide variety of food for the whole family throughout the day.

Café hours are:

  • 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
The café also offers room service from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.

At the 106th Street cafeteria, meal vouchers are available for purchase in the café for family members who would like to eat a meal with their guest. Family members can also order from the room service menu and have their meal delivered to the guest’s room.

At 86th Street, the cafeteria is open all day, every day — with hot meals available during regular meal times and grab-and-go items available during non-meal times. At 86th Street, patients can receive room service 24 hours a day.

Spiritual Care

We believe that each person is a unique blend of body, mind, and spirit. We believe each person is worthy of respect and care. And in keeping with our core value of holistic caring, we place an emphasis on meeting the spiritual needs of our visitors.

Our chaplains are available to:

  • Listen and offer spiritual and emotional support
  • Accompany those in crisis or grief
  • Share prayer, lead worship, or help create and lead other appropriate rituals
  • Contact and supplement the efforts of your own clergy
  • Reflect and consult on questions of ethics

St.Vincent Heart Center chaplains are available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and during weekend hours. However, rest assured that if you need to speak with one of our chaplains in an emergency situation, they’re available 24 hours a day. You may reach them by telephone at (317) 583-5059, by calling the hospital operator at (317) 583-5000, or by email at susan.jacques@theheartcenter.com.

Because we place such great respect on the spiritual needs of our visitors and guests, we provide a chapel as a place of quiet sanctuary where guests and visitors can nourish their spirits and nurture their relationships with the Divine.

At our 106th and North Meridian location, the chapel is located off the hospital lobby across from the café. At our 86th Street location, the chapel is located on the first floor near the stairs to the cafeteria. Chapels are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for prayer, worship, meditation, and reflection, where individuals of all faiths and traditions are invited to find peace, rest, and healing.
