Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in America; in fact, one out of every two deaths is related to cardiovascular disease. A HeartScan at St.Vincent Heart Centet can identify heart disease risks that require immediate treatment, as well as conditions that allow you to help patients make lifestyle decisions that can greatly reduce their chances heart attack, stroke, or other form of cardiovascular disease.

HeartScan is a coronary artery scan that measures the amount of arterial plaque in the patient’s heart. It is a simple, quick, painless procedure for which the patient is fully clothed. There are no injections or other uncomfortable preparations and no side effects.

HeartScan results are mailed to patients within 8 – 10 days of the test, and can also be mailed to you. If the test reveals any cause for immediate concern, the patient may be admitted immediately to St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.

In addition, patients may schedule a post-HeartScan consultation with a St.Vincent cardiac nurse specialist, who will provide a complete cholesterol profile and heart risk assessment and discuss the HeartScan results.
