The Children’s Heart Center at St.Vincent is a proud part of both St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana and the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent. It is a regional center of excellence in the care of children with heart disease, where cardiovascular surgery has been performed for more than 10 years. The Children’s Heart Center at St.Vincent also has achieved numerous milestones in the past decade, including:
- The world’s first remote magnetically navigated catheter ablation procedure in a child
- The first to perform an arterial switch repair in a 4-pound newborn
- The first intraoperative systemic venous stenting in Indiana
- The first to successfully construct a right ventricular outflow tract, repair the tricuspid valve and place a central shunt in a newborn
The Children’s Heart Center at St.Vincent also was the first pediatric care center in Indiana to transmit echocardiographic images from a remote location to the cardiology office, as well as the first pediatric cardiac catheterization lab in Indiana to use bi-plane imaging, reducing radiation exposure for physicians and patients. These technological advancements have contributed to our ongoing surgical success.
